Andy Wittman (R-Sayville) won a landslide race in 2021. Since the position of Receiver of Taxes is considered the most apolitical of the town elections, Wittman has done the job diligently and orderly. He has modernized the office processes, re-negotiated the town interest rates, invested in computerized systems for the office, and combatted mail fraud regarding tax office mail specifically.

Since Wittman has revolutionized a relatively esoteric position in town government, all while remaining apolitical, we see no reason to fix what isn’t broken. Furthermore, his opponent, Laura Falbo (D), is not actively campaigning.

The Messenger endorses Receiver Andy Wittman for Islip Receiver of Taxes.

The Messenger’s forecast for this race: Safe Republican.
