Few candidates match the professional background and wealth of knowledge Anthony Figliola (R-East Setauket) brings to the table. A fresh perspective on nearly every issue, Figliola is a much-needed addition to the County Legislature.

Anthony Figliola

While many candidates have brought forth excellent ideas that address the needs of the county, few have matched the comprehensive and unique perspective Figliola brings to the table. While his solutions for garbage and wastewater are heavily rooted in science and ingenuity, his ideas would also allow the County to head in a direction in which money is made, saving the taxpayers’ dime and helping create a self-sustaining economy. Furthermore, Figliola’s background is conducive to many public-private partnerships, a necessary blend to ensure efficiency, good-paying jobs, and innovation. Figliola is a fresh face with new ideas that desperately deserve a spotlight. His tenacity on the campaign trail is also a reflection of his desire to get to work for the people of Suffolk County, especially in a region of Brookhaven that is shedding its long-held Democratic tendencies in favor of a more competitive political profile.

Figliola’s opponent, former Assemblyman Steve Englebright (D-Setauket), although often praised for his storied career in Albany as Chair of the Environmental Conservation Committee, leaves much to be desired. His partnership with Senator James Gaughran (D-Northport) – now running for NY-01 – to stall wastewater solutions in Albany, his investments in oil fracking in the Midwest while simultaneously sponsoring legislation to ban the practice in New York, and his misuse of government property which led to the exposure of personal health records of unsuspecting patients leaves us with an overwhelming obligation to not endorse him for County Legislature.

In light of Englebright’s hypocrisy and membership of the Albany “swamp,” as well as Figliola’s much-needed voice in the Legislature, The Messenger is proud to endorse Anthony Figliola for Suffolk County Legislature, District Five.
