DINING WITH DEANA: It’s the Small Neighborhood Coffee Shop for Me

There’s just something about it. Walking through a small town, its main road lined with boutique shops, little restaurants, maybe an ice-cream parlor— and then boom, there it is. A cozy little coffee shop to quietly work, meet with friends, or enjoy some much-needed alone time, maybe even reading a book.

This is exactly what the Brewport Coffee House offers the village of Bellport.

The building alone sets the tone. The coffee house makes you feel as though you are walking through the front door of someone’s house with its stone steps, wrought iron railing, storm door, and vibrant flowers in a window planter. Even better is the small area for outside seating. At first sight, it’s already charming and homely as can be.

Inside, there are two rooms that seat up to 25 guests combined. The café gives off a sort of rustic, farmhouse vibe, with options to sit at regular tables that’s benches are lined with pillows. Or you can take a seat by one of the two large windows overlooking South Country Road. Wi-Fi? Also included, free of charge.

… AND they have great coffee.

I was helped by Melody, who was pleasant, helpful and made me feel like I was a longtime regular. With her help, I decided on the Rainbow Cookie iced coffee, and immediately fell in love. It was absolutely delicious and bursting with flavor. It tasted identical to a rainbow cookie, and wasn’t too sweet either. All in all, the flavor and caffeine were just right, and more than I expected for “just getting a quick cup of coffee.”

Yes, there was a full case and plenty of other options for a sweet snack or refreshment, but, if you know me, sometimes I can’t make up my mind— and must ultimately plan for repeat visits to places that deserve it so I can sample the rest it has in store. Brewport Coffee House is no exception!

As I do recommend that you experience the rather soothing ambiance of the Brewport Coffee House in Bellport Village, the shop will soon be opening a second location inside the Sachem Public Library at 150 Holbrook Road in Holbrook. This second location will offer the same to-die-for drink and pastry menu.

While it would be more convenient if you were in the area, I can assure you that you’ll want to go out of your way to make a special trip down to the Brewport Coffee House – you won’t regret it.

“The Brewport Coffee House” is located at 129 South Country Road in Bellport. For more information, you may visit their website at brewportcoffee.com.
