Supervising Suffolk’s largest town – and the second-largest in New York State by population – is not a simple undertaking by any stretch of the imagination. From a complex landfill situation, to coastal waterway concerns unparalleled by any other municipality, to a sprawling region of a large variety of communities, each with different needs, Supervisor Ed Romaine (R-Center Moriches) has left extraordinarily large shoes to fill.

Dan Panico

We believe Councilman and Deputy Supervisor Dan Panci (R-Center Moriches) is the right candidate for the job. First elected in a March 2010 special election in his eastern Brookhaven-based district, Panico has been re-elected several times by large margins. His awareness of every large-scale issue facing Brookhaven, down to the granular knowledge of every community and neighborhood is unparalleled by the knowledge and experience of his opponent. While his opponent has had experience in local government, Panico is a life-long resident of Brookhaven and has served directly under Romaine’s wing.

Because of his experience and his close connection in governance with his outgoing superior, The Messenger is proud to endorse Dan Panico for Brookhaven Town Supervisor.
