Celebrate St. James Launches ‘Kids Community’

-

Last Monday, January 16, started the first of what organizers suspect will be many ‘Kids Community’ at Celebrate St. James’ Community Center.

Event organizer David Kornblith spearheaded the “Pizza and Puppets” event. He added that much of the planning and organizing was assisted by his sister-in[1]law, Casey Meyer, who was instrumental in planning the activities of the day.

Participants, generally ranging from ages 3-9, were able to enjoy pizza prepared by Pizza by Tano and make puppets.

“I think it’s a good thing to volunteer,” said Kornblith, who also added that he was happy to see children enjoying time spent not in front of a screen.

Celebrate St. James already has programming and activities for older age groups and adults as well; however, this is tangent to the mission of making the former theater a community center.

Kornblith plans on Kids Community activities becoming a quarterly occurrence, with one already in the works for late April or early May.

This first Kids Community received rave reviews from parents and participants alike, according to Kornblith.
