Manny Troche for Islip Town Council

-

Republican Emanuel ‘Manny’ Troche and Democrat Jorge Guadron are competing to represent the newly-created First District Council seat. The race is within what has been called the ‘majority-minority district’ which encompasses Baywood, Brentwood, and North Bay Shore.

Troche is a business manager and 18-year volunteer of the Brentwood Fire Department. Born in Puerto Rico, the long-time Islip resident and his three brothers attended Patchogue-Medford schools, and Manny graduated from Suffolk Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice.

He works as a Senior Production Manager and has held supervisory positions since 1985. In this role, his job is to motivate employees and create a cohesive team that meets or exceeds ever-changing production requirements – bilingual skills he will bring to the Town Council.

Troche actively serves as a Republican committeeman in the Town of Islip, helping the residents to have a voice. He also serves on the Community Development Agency (CDA), known for affordable housing programs. He has helped with several relief efforts helping the people of Puerto Rico after they were devastated by Hurricane Maria (2017) and an earthquake (2020).

Troche was awarded the Spanish Heritage Award, earned a citation for saving a life with the Brentwood Fire Department, and helped provide support during Super Storm Sandy. In his capacity as a Fireman and deeply-involved community member, he knows where the Town’s strengths lie and where improvements are needed.

A credible candidate, Jorge Guadron is the President of the El Salvadorian Chamber of Commerce, in addition to being a small business owner and former assistant shop steward of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union, Local 100.

We believe Manny Troche brings a more focused, energetic approach for the community.

The Messenger Papers endorse Manny Troche for Islip Town Councilman in District One.
