The Phantoms have made some noise on the field, winning the Suffolk County title on Thursday with a win over Pierson in field hockey. On Tuesday, they beat Carle Place to win the beat Carle Place to win Long Island title. Bayport-Blue Point is now back-to-back Suffolk County and Long Island Champions.

The Bayport-Blue Point varsity field hockey team is a member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) and competes in Division II. The girls are led by 17th-year head coach Karen Gick. She’s joined on the sidelines by assistant coach Katie Burbige. The Phantoms finished the regular season with a 14-3-0 record.

The Phantoms are no stranger to winning, having won the Suffolk County title in 2019, 2025, and 2026. BBP also took home the Long Island Championship in 2025.

Bayport had a strong season offensively, outscoring their opponents 62 to 7. Their only three losses were 1-0 shutouts. While only being shutout three times, the Phantoms posted 10 shutouts of their own this season. The person behind those shutouts? Goaltender Paige Seaman.

The Section XI Suffolk County Championships began last week, and Bayport-Blue Point entered the post season as the number one seed in Class C. The Phantoms met Pierson in the final, a team they played during the regular season and won 5-0.

Katie Bailargeon and Madeline Clark scored for Bayport in the first quarter, and it was a lead they would never relinquish. Pierson managed to slip one past but fell short of a comeback.

Lily LiPuma is tied for sixth in Suffolk County in scoring with 16g-11a-27pts. Madeline Clark also made the list at 15th place with 6g-16a-22pts. Newsday named their Top-50 field hockey players prior to the season, and Camryn Bruckner (F/M), Madeline Clark (D/M), and Lily LiPuma (F) all made the list.

The Phantoms have a team trophy they give out after each game called “The Most Extra” Award. It’s typically given to the player who went above and beyond during the game to help the team win.

Bayport Blue-Point is the reigning Long Island Champion with the goal of defending their title versus the Carle Place Frogs. This is a LI title rematch from last season, making it that much more intense. Last season, the Phantoms claimed the title with a 1-0 win.

The Long Island Championship took place at Motamed Field on the Campus of Adelphi University. The 5pm start meant it was a matchup under the lights in a nice fall 61-degree weather.

The Phantoms showed up and gave it everything they had against the Frogs. The final score was 2-1 in favor of Bayport Blue Point. The girls repeat as Long Island Champions and will compete for the New York State Championship next!

Congratulations on a phenomenal season, Phantoms! Suffolk County is proud of your accomplishments, and we can’t wait to see what you do at States next weekend! The Phantoms will look to be the first Long Island representative to win the NYS title since Northport ‘22.
