The Babylon American Legion Post #94 decided that America’s 250th birthday needed to be celebrated with style, so they held a multi-parking lot block party.

This huge event would also be a fundraiser to help our local Veterans in need. The event also included food trucks, motorcycles, cool classic cars, live bands – including the American Bombshells Trio – some military trucks, vendors, a kids’ zone, a mechanical bull, Uncle Sam, and a whole lot of local families and Veterans groups enjoying a day in the sun.

There were also Statue of Liberty sightings and Top Gun’s own Maverick on hand as well. The bands – the Roosters, Tucker Stevens, American Ride, and the American Bombshells – kept the crowds dancing with all types of music ranging from the Andrews Sisters to Toby Keith. It made me happy to see families with young children asking questions and listening to the stories of our Veterans from World War II to those currently serving or recently discharged and walking away having learned some history from those who helped make history happen.

Thank You to all involved in putting this awesome event together and keeping it flowing smoothly. Happy 250th birthday, USA!
