STONY BROOK — Suffolk County Police are investigating a motor vehicle incident that left a pedestrian dead Saturday evening in Stony Brook.
According to the Suffolk County Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on December 6, when a 2025 Volkswagen traveling southbound on Nicolls Road struck a pedestrian in the roadway at the intersection with Nesconset Highway.
The driver, identified as Samantha Cianci, 27, of Commack, was not injured.
The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Police describe the victim as a Hispanic woman, approximately 30 to 40 years of age.
Detectives from the SCPD Sixth Squad are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators at 631-854-8646.
