Southampton Police Searching for Missing Hampton Bays Man Last Seen Kayaking
Southampton Town Police are asking for the public’s help locating Shane Garcia, 27, of Hampton Bays, who was reported missing Saturday evening after a kayaking trip on Shinnecock Bay.
Garcia’s girlfriend told police he had gone out earlier in the day and never returned. Officers found his work van parked at the end of Shinnecock Avenue near the Ponquogue Bridge, a popular access point to the bay.
Garcia was last seen with his friend Aaron Montemarano, 25, while kayaking. Both men were captured in a photo Garcia sent to his girlfriend before he disappeared. Police say searches of Shinnecock Bay and the surrounding area have so far yielded no results.
Garcia is described as 6’2”, 185 pounds, and was last seen wearing a grey jacket and shirt, black pants, and tan Nike sneakers.
