Arrow Security marked a significant milestone on October 16, celebrating its fortieth anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its corporate headquarters on West Main Street in Smithtown. Special guests included Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim (R-Kings Park), Smithtown Council members Lisa Inzerillo (R-Kings Park) and Tom Lohmann (R-Smithtown), Suffolk County Clerk Vincent Puleo (R-Nesconset), Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon (D), Assemblyman Keith Brown (R-Northport), Suffolk County Comptroller John Kennedy (R-Nesconset), Undersheriff John Becker, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of New York Vincent DeMarco, and a representative for Congressman Nick LaLota (R-Amityville).

Founded in 1985, Arrow Security has grown into one of the largest privately held security guard companies in the United States, employing more than 7,000 people nationwide and providing over nine million hours of guard service each year. The company has been headquartered on Long Island since its inception and has operated from its Smithtown location for the past 12 years.

Chief Executive Officer AJ Caro reflected on both the company’s growth and the challenges facing the modern security industry. “Increasing regulations on the workforce, additional taxation, and rising costs of insurance make things more challenging,” Caro told The Messenger. “Smaller companies don’t have the depth of business talent or experience, which makes managing a smaller company even more difficult.”

Even as the industry continues to evolve, Caro emphasized the importance of adapting to technological advancements.

“Technology continues to improve,” he said. “Arrow works closely with technology firms like iPro to incorporate things like facial recognition, body cams, and advanced electronic security measures.”

Caro also spoke about the need for collaboration across the broader security sector.

“There’s not a lot of collaboration between guard companies and the many other types of security industries that exist,” he explained. “We work with these types of companies to make recommendations on the best possible solutions.”

For Smithtown-area clients, Caro said Arrow’s focus remains on reliability and communication.

“Consistent and reliable communication between clients, site staff, our field supervision, and command center enables us to be proactive and react quickly to occurrences,” he said. “Arrow has been in business for forty years and has always been headquartered on Long Island, and for the past twelve years in Smithtown. We continue to introduce and recommend security improvements for our local clients.”

Over four decades, Arrow has expanded its services to include guard operations, risk assessment, communication systems, and advanced technology solutions. The company’s long-term success stems from a consistent mission centered on professionalism and care.

Arrow’s defining feature is its “We Care” culture, which emphasizes putting clients, employees, and guards first in every aspect of the company’s operations.

As Arrow Security celebrates 40 years in business, the team at Arrow remains dedicated to embracing innovation and continuing to strengthen its roots in the Long Island community.
