The need for renovation and innovation are more apparent than ever as we continue to progress through the era of modern technology. The massive jump from primitive technology to high-speed Internet and Artificial Intelligence have turned the current state of our public services and businesses between their full potential from gaps into chasms.
One company prides itself on such renovations: Forte Construction Corp. The Forte team, community members, and local elected officials convened for the ribbon-cutting at their new main office in Islandia.
We decided that our organization needed a larger, more modern office facility representative of the quality of its people and their work,” said Forte Construction President Larry Pappas. “My friend and partner’s father, Tony Cardillo, Sr., set out more than fifty years ago with the proverbial dollar and a dream to build something great, and he really did.”
Pappas said that the opening marks the “newest chapter” in their story, a chapter about “growth and innovation, continued commitment to our employees, and to the community.” He also said that Forte’s employees make the company what it is.
“I can honestly say that we are blessed to employ the most amazing people in our industry and we are truly thankful to them for all their hard work and dedication,” said Pappas.
Pappas also spoke optimistically of the company’s future with the opening of the new state-of-the-art office.
“This office is more than just a building to us. To us, it’s an innovation hub and a gateway to the future,” said Pappas. “With its completion, we are now better equipped to take our performance to new heights while continuing to provide top-notch service to our important agency clients which include the MTA, New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road, New York City School Construction Authority, NYCHA, and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.”
Pappas also mentioned their commitments beyond those to their clients. Forte prides itself on corporate responsibilities, pledging positive impacts on their land and surrounding areas. The company also neighbors with charities, such as Helping Hands, Habitat for Humanity, Island Harvest, Make-A-Wish, St. Jude’s Butterfly Effect Project, and Big Brothers and Sisters.
Several elected officials were present to welcome Forte to the community, with proclamations on behalf of the Town of Islip and Suffolk County.
“We need the growth of business here in the Town of Islip,” said Councilman John Lorenzo (R-West Sayville), in conjunction with Councilman Jorge Guadrón (D-Central Islip). “The Town Board and Supervisor Angie Carpenter (R-West Islip) thank you for keeping your business in the Town of Islip and we wish you many years of success.”
Representatives for Congressman Andrew Garbarino (R-Bayport) and Suffolk County Legislator Trish Bergin (R-East Islip) welcomed Forte to the Second Congressional District and the Tenth Legislative District, respectively.
“There are four generations of Cardillos involved with the business,” Pappas told The Messenger. “Tony Cardillo, Jr.’s grandfather worked in the accounting department and now Tony’s son is a project manager running one of our school projects in Brooklyn.”
Although Forte is known for large-scale projects, including the expansion, renovation, and beautification of a Buddhist temple in Queens, for which they won Project of the Year, Forte has also worked on local LIRR train stations, including Ronkonkoma.
“Right now, we’re working on the Babylon train station, which is a $100 million dollar-plus component of a $225 million project,” said Cardillo, Jr. “We’re renovating the station, installing new elevators, new platforms, and a snow-melting system on the platforms.”
Forte also worked in collaboration with other contractors to install “enhanced initiatives” at the Ronkonkoma train station, including Wi-Fi at the station and digital signage.
However, Forte’s work is not just limited to municipal services. The company also does commercial works, including banks and private real estate development.
“Forte has done remarkable pro-jects, including installing Wi-Fi for New York City subway stations by doing work underground,” Tom Butler, a spokesman for the company, told The Messenger. “They work on buildings all around the region, including elementary schools and university homes. Forte is also one of the lead innovators in the nation in building, making transit systems ADA accessible. If someone has limited mobility, by making this station that’s been there for decades accessible, now that person can have an apartment, have a job, and go shopping in that community. It’s just so vital.”
Attendees were then welcomed into the building for a grand tour, cocktails, and finger foods, as the futuristic design of the office stands as a testament to Forte’s capabilities and vision.
