The Sixth District’s home in a strongly-Republican part of northern Brookhaven contrasts with its twelve-year representation by term-limited Legislator Sarah Anker (D-Mt. Sinai). Now open, the seat is up for grabs, and relative political newcomer Chad Lennon (R-Rocky Point) has a perfect blend of professional experiences to accurately represent the constituents of this part of Suffolk.

Lennon has the respectable honor of having been a Marine for fifteen years, with four years of active-duty. Lennon was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010, where he led over fifty combat missions, bringing his units home safely, and received a Purple Heart. He has been a reservist since 2012 with the rank of Major and is now a practicing lawyer with a focus on criminal, military, and Veterans law.

Lennon has also served as a Congressional aide to Congressman Nick LaLota (R) and as a special assistant for Veterans Affairs for Senator Anthony Palumbo (R-New Suffolk).

Lennon’s career in service, knowledge of issues facing our great Veterans here in Suffolk, and his work within government makes him uniquely qualified for this position. We believe that Lennon’s experience is completely unparalleled by any other candidate for Legislature this year, and his opponent, Chief of Staff to Legislator Anker, would essentially be more of the same representation the Sixth District has had for twelve years.

The Messenger endorses Chad Lennon for Suffolk County Legislature, District SIx.

The Messenger’s forecast for this seat: Leans Republican (Flip).
