Beauty in the Breakdown: A Super Bowl Champion and a Supermodel Divorce

-

Seven-time Superbowl Champion Tom Brady and Supermodel Gisele Bündchen have called it quits after 13 years of marriage.

On October 28, Brady and Bündchen posted their divorce statements online, saying the former couple divorced “amicably.”

“My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart,” Bündchen wrote. “We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve.”

Together, Brady and Bündchen have 2 children, Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9. Bündchen stepped up and assumed a stepmother role to Brady’s child, Jack, 15, from a previous relationship with Bridget Moynahan.

“We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration,” Brady wrote in his post. “Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world.”

The split between the pair came about during Brady’s 23rd NFL season. After winning 7 Super Bowl titles, he announced his retirement

In his retirement statement, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback had expressed his excitement and desire to be with his family.

Just 40 days later, Brady changed his mind

Last month, rumors spread about the former couple getting into what sources say was an “epic fight” over Brady’s choice to “un-retire” from the NFL.

Brady may as well have stayed in retirement with how unwell he is playing this season. With an overall 5-5 standing in the NFC South, it appears Brady’s glory days are over— or maybe the divorce has naturally taken a toll on him and everyone he loves.

Fans have reacted to the divorce, more specifically, the choice of words in Brady and Bündchen’s statements.

“Gisele Bündchen’s emphasis on ‘my priority has always been & will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart’ is the real gag!” who tweeted followed by a GIF of a chef’s kiss.

Another fan noted, “I didn’t miss that ‘my priority’ not ‘our priority.’ I get it, Gisele,” alongside a screenshot of Bündchen’s divorce statement.

Brady fans, however, blame Bündchen for “holding him back.”

“Tom Brady really 2-0 since getting divorced lmaooo man’s got a clear mind now,” someone tweeted.”

“Tom Brady now 2-0 since divorcing Gisele she was clearly holding him back.”

“What more do you have to prove?” Bündchen asked Brady after Brady’s last Super Bowl victory.

Bündchen and her family moved from Boston to Tampa in 2020 and said she wants to make her own future plans: “I have a huge list of things that I have to do, that I want to do. At 42, I feel more connected with my purpose.”

Brady, 45, isn’t getting any younger. After several injuries, and playing while recovering from a concussion in 2017, his post-retirement plan was to become the lead football analyst for Fox Sports. His 10-year contract is reportedly worth $375 million, but his start date is uncertain.

Photos from an outing between Bündchen and another male suggested the two were on a date in Costa Rica last week.

She denies the claims and a source told Fox News the man who accompanied her is her children’s Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Joaquim Valente.

The photo was taken not on a romantic date, but rather at Bündchen’s Costa Rican home. The source also explained that the media cropped out a third adult in the photo— her children’s home school teacher, Jordan, to Benjamin and Vivian. On the trip were 6 adults and 8 children.

“Tom and Gisele are not battling over the kids, they both want joint custody. But it will take some time to divide their immense wealth and property all over the world,” an insider told Page Six.
