Smithtown Self-Help Author to Host Female Entrepreneur Empowerment Event

-

First the Courage then the Confidence: ‘WorkLuv’ and Repeat

Local best-seller Erin Ley, of Smithtown, is set to host Life on Track SUMMIT: Empowering Female Entrepreneurs To Be All You Can Be! – and celebrate the men who support them – on Monday, October 24.

For the seminar, Ley’s “Life on Track” organization is partnering in conjunction with Mitzi Purdue’s anti-human trafficking efforts and Terrie Magro’s “Michael Magro Foundation” pediatric cancer non-profit, formed in honor of the latter’s late son.

Additional keynote speakers will include Ley’s colleagues Erik Swanson, Jon Kovach Jr., Hannah Kesler and Dr. Maria Avilia. The Money Multiplier and First Central Savings Bank have joined as sponsors as well.

Before sitting down with The Messenger this week, Ley and our outlet last touched base in June of 2021 when she was promoting her high-concept novel WorkLuv, currently available for purchase on Amazon. It follows the story of a barista and a Mars Culture Strategist whose HALO Corporation is contracted by Elon Musk’s SpaceX to help bring people to Earth’s closest neighboring planet by 2030.

By hooking readers in with a quasi- Philip K. Dick meets-the-eye premise, Ley is able to live within her wheelhouse: coaching audiences on self-care in a novel that serves various demographics– be it those seeking counsel on motherhood, workplace dynamics, fear of the future, anything.

“Some people have energy that’s like a fist inside their chest,” Ley described to The Messenger. “It’s so constricted, it’s so tight. But when you relax, drop your shoulders to where they belong, not around your ears. And you follow the golden rule, doing the best you can each and every day, that’s all you have to do – be the best version of you.”

Equally as passionate about writing — with now 10 best-selling books to her name, and ready to be sold en masse on October 24 – as she is professing her messages from one pedestal to the next, Ley cites her life experience as what first set her on this path. Instead of loathing the stage in lockstep with everyone’s natural reluctance to partake in a discipline like public speaking, Ley relishes in it.

In doing so, she became this best version of herself, which for her means encouraging others to find it within themselves to do the same.

Diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (Non-Hodgkin’s) at the age of 25 in 1991, Ley considers her illness “a blessing.”

“They basically throw the kitchen sink at you for two and a half years,” she recalled. “And I kept living every time the doctor said I would die. I went on to have a few kids the doctors swore would never happen. And then I did personal development work on myself that I never knew existed.”

This included: meditation, visualization and writing everything down until the “crystal clear vision came to life.”

“Back then, I was on fire to help cancer patients, and we’ve come a long way,” said Ley. “For female entrepreneurs now, I’m on fire to empower them, because a lot of the times we put ourselves last. I want to say, ‘it’s OK to put yourself first.” It’s like when the oxygen mask comes down on an airplane, a mom has to take the breath of air first and then give it to the children– otherwise, you’re useless.”

After her divorce a few years back, Ley grew her business from nothing to six- figures in a year-and-a-half as a life coach and business strategist – and is tracking to reach seven-figures this coming year.

To aspiring public speakers, writers and artists of all kinds, Ley implores the hesitant members of the population to let their voice shine by removing their attachment to what they are communicating to the world whenever they can.

“If something wrong happens, it’s OK. We’re living in a world now where people like authenticity– they like seeing something real.”

Ley added, “Don’t worry about you. When you’re worried about you, and how you present, and how you look and how people are going to receive you. When you don’t personalize it– that you have to do a phenomenal job for the audience or else you’ll look awful. When you can get outside of that, and just show up looking to serve the audience, know that the message you have is meaningful, and you know you’re coming from a server’s heart, with the ability to inspire and motivate other people– you’re not going to get nervous anymore, because it’s not about you.”

“Indecision leads to self-doubt,” Ley believes, “and self-doubt is slow and insidious. When you’re in self-doubt, boom, you go into fear. Fear is anything negative – regret, remorse, anger, resentment, anxiety, depression. It always stems back to having not made a decision. If there’s a hanging decision that you have been mulling over in your head that you haven’t made, you just have to bring the gavel down – it’s always first the courage then the confidence.”

Searching for answers to questions you have shied from asking? Look no further than Ley’s upcoming event.

October 24’s “Life on Track SUMMIT: Empowering Female Entrepreneurs To Be All You Can Be!” will take place at Westbury Manor – 1100 Jericho Turnpike – from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $150 per person, with tables for 10 parties eligible to attend for only $100 a plate. There are hundreds of seats still available, with the promise of 50/50 raffles, gift bags and headshot opportunities also at each attendee’s disposal.

All proceeds from Ley’s in-person book sales and signings at the top of the event will go to Purdue and Magro’s respective charities.

“When an apple is squeezed, you get apple juice

When an orange is squeezed, you get orange juice

When a human is squeezed under pressure, what comes out is who we really are.”

To Ley, this means “the sum total of the 5 people we surround ourselves with.”

“..so surround yourself with positivity,” Ley urged. “Celebrate life and you’ll have a life worth celebrating!”
