Trish Bergin for County Legislator

Republican Trish Bergin of East Islip is a 12-year Islip Councilwoman with a strong track record of cutting wasteful government spending and turning things around. When she took office, the Town of Islip was in financial peril. She leaves town government with a historic AAA bond rating – the highest credit rating for a municipality. In her bid for County Legislator, Bergin has committed to reducing the tax burden on Suffolk’s residents and businesses. She also cites a need to make Suffolk more affordable for our young people and our seniors.

Her priorities include supporting infrastructure to improve water quality, working to clean up Suffolk parks and beaches, and supporting law enforcement. She has a track record suggesting she will continue the good work of term-limited incumbent Legislator Tom Cilmi, and will join her colleagues in supporting the restoration of Lake Ronkonkoma.

The Messenger Papers endorse Trish Bergin for Legislator in the Tenth District.
