Ray Tierney for Suffolk County District Attorney

-

Ray Tierney is seeking the office of Suffolk County District Attorney on the Republican and Conservative lines. A life-time prosecutor with a proven record of success, fairness, and integrity, he has dedicated his career to fighting for victims and protecting the community.

A graduate of Brown University and St. John’s University School of Law, Ray began his career as Assistant District Attorney in the Suffolk County DA’s Office from 1992 to 1999 where he participated in all aspects of state felony prosecutions including homicides, kidnappings, arsons, violent sexual assaults, and murder. He then spent two years at the law firm Shaub, Ahmuty, Citrin & Spratt LLP before returning to the Suffolk District Attorney’s office.

Once again serving as Assistant District Attorney from 2002 to 2008, he assumed prosecution and investigation of state felony prosecutions including political corruption, organized crime, street gangs, homicides, violent street crimes, domestic violence, child abuse, and child pornography.

Tierney became an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District in 2008, remaining until 2019. While there he prosecuted high-profile corruption cases in Nassau and Suffolk, including former Nassau County Executive and his wife, a former Oyster Bay Supervisor, and later the Suffolk Conservative Party leader. Tierney, who is not enrolled in any political party, vows to end the corruption and crony politics that have taken over the Suffolk County DA’s Attorney’s office. Ray has a history of allegiance to the law, not a person or party.

Tierney also has a strong record of convictions on violent street gangs, including MS-13 cases and sexual abuse. He prosecuted a multitude of MS-13 gang members, including Rene Mendez Mejia, Adalberto Ariel Guzman and Juan Garcia, who were convicted in 2010 of murdering Vanessa Argueta, 19, and her 2-year-old son Diego Torres in Central Islip.

Tierney more recently worked as an Executive Assistant District Attorney for the Kings County DA in Brooklyn, where he oversaw the Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau, Crime Strategies Unit and the Body Worn Camera Unit.

Ray Tierney will bring integrity and accountability to an office that has been rampant with corruption and political retaliation. Years of courtroom know how, and multi-unit management experience grants him the ability to oversee and run the District Attorney’s office with transparency, fairness, and enforcement of law without political influence and special interests dictating outcomes.
