Legislator Leslie Kennedy sponsored a bill that the Suffolk County Legislature has unanimously approved, which will allocate funding from a limited reserve for Cultural Arts Programming. The program was created to allow cultural organizations that did not use their 2020 funding due to the pandemic to use the funding this year. During the pandemic, the legislature established a limited reserve fund for organizations that received funding from the County’s ‘Hotel/Motel Tax’ to be used for cultural arts programming. This fund was created to allow organizations to carry over their 2020 hotel-motel tax funding into 2021 so that they can provide programming once it is safe to resume such gatherings.
