Summer vacations just got a bit “breeze-ier” at MacArthur Airport (ISP).
Breeze Airways, a relatively new, low-cost carrier, has just announced its tenth nonstop destination from Islip. Travelers can now embark on a direct flight to Tampa, Florida. Twice-weekly service will kick off on January 6, 2027, and will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Travelers can take advantage of now. Fares currently start at $129 at flybreeze.com.
The route to Tampa International Airport (TPA) joins nine other nonstop destinations they currently host out of ISP. Florida makes up three of those stops: Fort Myers, Sarasota, and Vero Beach.
Out of ISP, Breeze also serves Wilmington and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Charleston and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia.
The new route by Breeze offers travelers a third option to get to Tampa. Southwest and Frontier currently offer nonstop flights.
“We’re delighted to see Breeze continue to expand its offerings at Islip’s MacArthur Airport,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter (R-West Islip) in a statement. “Long Island travelers are enjoying Breeze’s ‘Seriously Nice’ service, and our community remains committed to working with air carriers to provide more options for local residents and visitors looking to experience all that our region has to offer.”
Breeze Airways officially launched in 2021 and began its service out of ISP in 2022. It is one of six carriers operating out of ISP, the others being Avelo, Cape Air, Frontier, JetBlue, and Southwest.
“Our customers are responding positively to Breeze’s expanding options at ISP. These two weekly nonstops, together with four weekly BreezeThru options, give Long Island travelers six convenient ways each week to reach Tampa Bay. We thank Breeze for its continued confidence in ISP and investment in the Long Island market,” said ISP Airport Commissioner Rob Schneider.
The added route continues to put ISP on the map. Last year, it was voted the second-best small airport in the country in USA Today’s 10Best Survey. The airport not only makes up Suffolk’s largest transit hub, located just miles away from the Ronkonkoma LIRR Station, but also acts as a primary bolster of the surrounding business area.
“New nonstop service strengthens Long Island’s connections to important markets and supports economic development by encouraging tourism, business travel and job growth. Breeze’s continued expansion at MacArthur Airport is a positive investment in our region,” said Islip Town Councilman John Lorenzo (C-West Sayville), whose district includes ISP.
