An ardent champion for the taxpayer, Legislator Rob Trotta (R-Fort Salonga) is running unopposed for a sixth and final term in the County Legislature.

Trotta has been a staunch fiscal watchdog and has held the county to the wall on programs that have overcharged residents such as the red-light cameras and the school-bus cameras. Additionally, Trotta was also one of the many vocal opponents to this summer’s sewer bill, stating that money earmarked by the taxpayer should go to its intended cause.

Trotta’s vocality on open-space preservation and affordable housing and workforce housing echoes a much-needed perspective that our County will continue to require going forward. He joins the ranks of many Republicans who hold this same view, making his membership of the Legislature a requirement to work in tandem with Ed Romaine (R-Center Moriches) as county executive.

True to Trotta’s practicality and representation of his constituents, the Democratic Party did not field a candidate to run against him for his sixth and final term. His fiscal conservatism and no-nonsense brand of politics will continue to give the Legislature the edge it requires.

Even if Rob Trotta had an opponent this year, it would still be no contest: The Messenger endorses Legislator Rob Trotta for Suffolk County Legislature, District Thirteen.

The Messenger’s forecast for this race: Safe Republican.
