Sayville celebrated their annual Miracle on Main Street holiday event last Saturday, November 25. Beginning with the hour-long holiday parade, the event was an all-day affair from 10:00a.m. to 9:00p.m.

Directly following the parade was the town’s Winter Wonderland celebrating Small Business Saturday with the local chamber of commerce. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there to welcome children, take photos, and discuss with parents their children’s Christmas lists. Flooding the streets were activities for all ages, such as trolley rides, ice skating, an amusement ride, and arts and craft tents.

After the sunset, Santa’s reindeers came to visit, and to give him a lift back to the North Pole. Plenty of local talent filled main street with music, ice sculptures, train displays, and dance performances. Attendees were able to watch movies in the street, play old fashioned games, and compete in a gingerbread competition.

“What a great time at Miracle on Main Street in Sayville yesterday for Small Business Saturday,” said Suffolk County Legislator Anthony Piccirillo (R-Holtsville), of the Eighth District. “This is your reminder to shop small this holiday season! Small businesses are the lifeblood of our community. Make sure to frequent their shops, restaurants, and stores for gifts for your loved ones this holiday season.

At precisely 6:30p.m. the town had their annual tree lighting in Sparrow Park that was straight out of a Hallmark movie.

“Another amazing Miracle on Main in Sayville! Great work by the Sayville Chamber to show off our community and promote small business,” said Assemblyman Jarett Gandolfo (R-Sayville), of the Seventh District, who attended the event.

Continuing the holiday festivities, the town will hold their annual Menorah Lighting on December 7, at 6:00p.m. at the Sayville Chamber House on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Main Street. The night will continue with candle lit prayers, live music, Hanukkah Gelt, and potato latkes. The whole community is welcome to come and join in the celebration.
