Tom McCarthy met with The Messenger this week to discuss his upcoming campaign for Town Clerk of Smithtown.
As first reported in The Messenger, Thomas D. McCarthy received the endorsement of the Smithtown Republican Committee at their nominating convention on February 22 and will be on the Republican line this November. He will also appear on the Conservative ballot line. McCarthy will appear on the Republican ballot line with incumbents Councilman Thomas Lohmann, Councilwoman Lisa M. Inzerillo, and Receiver of Taxes Deanna Varricchio.
The vacancy was created after the ascension of Vinny Puleo to the Office of Suffolk County Clerk.
Citing his experience as Vice President, General Manager, Regional Manager and Director for various service firms, including Fortune 500 companies, McCarthy said, “I believe my organizational skills will enable our office to continue Vincent Puleo’s legacy of reducing costs and providing superior service to the people of Smithtown.”
IT’S NOT ABOUT POLITICS… IT’S ABOUT SERVICE
“It’s not about politics. It’s about service,” continued McCarthy as he outlined his plans to administer the duties of town clerk. “My goal will be 100% resident satisfaction. We will continue to focus on personalized service, providing accurate, accessible records, and streamlining systems.”
Tom McCarthy added, “Another vital function of the town clerk I will concentrate on is assisting Smithtown agencies and municipalities in the procurement of Federal, State and County grants for projects in the Town of Smithtown.”
Tom concluded our discussion on an optimistic note, saying, “I look forward to applying my skill set of managing complex administrative, financial and human resource operations in the public sector.”
Tom McCarthy currently serves as Vice[1]Chairman of the Conservation Board of the Town of Smithtown and as a member of the Town of Smithtown Board of Assessment Review.
