On Wednesday, the Town of Islip announced an ambitious partnership.

The Town Board adopted a resolution in support of Hummus Fit Corporation to acquire and develop a 51,000-square-foot facility in Islandia, with the purpose of preparing fresh, high-quality prepared meals.

Hummus Fit Corporation is a Long Island-based and family-owned healthy meal prep delivery service and eatery that offers a variety of cuisine to fit almost any dietary regiment. Shipping to all fifty states, Hummus Fit has locations in Bellmore, Deer Park, East Islip, Holbrook, Huntington, Island Park, Lake Grove, Lindenhurst, Lynbrook, Miller Place, Ronkonkoma, Selden, and Woodbury.

Menu options include health snacks, low-carb, gluten free, vegan-friendly, vegetarian, keto-friendly, dairy-free, baked goods, and meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals last in the fridge for up to seven days, or three months in the freezer. The fresh-ingredient comestibles feature halal meat

The company’s expanding customer base and growing demand for its products have necessitated a dedicated, centralized food preparation facility to service all its locations efficiently and at scale,” the Town said in a press release.

Hummus Fit will acquire approximately 4.06 acres of land and will utilize the 51,000-square-foot building at 1800 Motor Parkway in Islandia as its primary food preparation center. The facility will also serve as the operational hub for all Hummus Fit locations.

“Hummus Fit is exactly the kind of homegrown success story that makes the Town of Islip such a great place to do business,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter (R-West Islip). “This investment will bring good jobs to our residents, strengthen our local economy, and keep a thriving company right here in our community. I am proud to welcome Hummus Fit’s new facility to Islip and look forward to watching the company continue to grow.”

Hummus Fit currently employs 55 full-time and 22 part-time workers. The project estimates another 50 full-time positions and 10 part-time positions, bringing the total to 105 full-time and 32 part-time. The total capital investment costs exceed $19 million.
