The Center Moriches boys varsity baseball team is on a tear this season so far. The boys from out east currently have a 6-1 league record and don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Don’t be surprised if this team is playing well and late into the spring months.

This past Monday evening though the boys brought home a special win for their coach. Coach Paul Gibson lll recorded his 100th win in the books as Center Moriches rocked John Glenn by a score of 12-0. It was hard to tell if the boys were more excited about improving their record or getting their beloved coach over that milestone.
Coach Gibson, also a Center Moriches graduate himself, has been at Center Moriches since the 2019- 2020 season when he moved assistant coach to the ships captain. The last name Gibson isn’t a strange one around Center Moriches though. Coach “Gibby” is also the son of former MLB pitcher Paul Gibson, who played for the Mets, Yankees and Detroit Tigers.
As assistant coach he was part of Center Moriches back to back class B state championships. This year Center Moriches has their eyes on getting back there and bringing home that state trophy to the small town on the east end. But until then they plan on staying competitive and taking each game as it comes. We’ll talk more about that big feat later in the spring.
Congratulations Coach Gibson on your 100th win!
