Mount Sinai Toddler Fatally Struck in Driveway; Sixth Squad Leading Investigation

Suffolk County Police investigate tragic driveway incident that claimed the life of a young child in Mount Sinai.

MOUNT SINAI — Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a heartbreaking incident in which a toddler was fatally struck in a residential driveway Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the crash occurred on December 6 at approximately 12:42 p.m. on Maureen Drive in Mount Sinai. Investigators say a Ram 1500 pickup truck struck the child in the driveway of a home while the toddler’s mother, 44, and father, 43, were present.

The toddler was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
