‘Tis the season!
As the month continues and we prepare for the big day, many local venues have their own way of
celebrating. Let’s look at what we can do with our families this weekend to keep the magical feeling of the holiday season going.
Friday, December 9
• Winter Family Fun Night at the Patchogue-Medford Library from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Crafts and activities will be presented right in front of the library for all to enjoy.
Saturday, December 10
• Frosty the Snowman opens at Creative Ministries Performing Arts Center in Oakdale. Tickets are available online or may be purchased in person.
• Festival of Trees and Lighting in Ronkonkoma at Sachem High School North. This festival includes free photos with Santa, games, crafts, food trucks, vendors and a Chinese auction. New and gently used coats will be collected in exchange for free admission. This event will take place from 11 a.m. to
6 p.m. and will also be held on Sunday.
• Holiday Princess Tea Party at Ballet Long Island at 1 p.m. in Ronkonkoma. Cinderella, Snow White, The Little Mermaid and Santa will perform live!
• Holiday Bonfire and Parade on Main Street in Riverhead starting at
3 p.m. Santa will be present in his magical gingerbread house waiting for your wishlist and to take a picture!
Activity and toy vendors, complimentary hot cocoa and food trucks will join the celebration as well.
Sunday, December 11
• Menorah Making at SYJCC in Commack from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Create your very own ceramic Menorah! This event has a $50 fee. More information is available on SYJCC’s website.
• Brunch with Santa at Desmond’s at the East Wind Long Island starting at 9 a.m.
• Children’s Movie Night: Polar Express at the Sound Beach POA Clubhouse from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
