MESSENGER EXCLUSIVE: Tierney Charges Zeldin Neighborhood Shooter

A suspect in an extensively covered local shooting has been detained this morning.

Noah Green, believed to be involved with the Sunday, October 9, shooting that took place outside of gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin’s Shirley home, stands charged with the following: criminal possession of a weapon in the Second Degree, a class C violent felony, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, a class E felony. The suspect was found in possession of the gun prosecutors say was used in the alleged shooting outside of the congressman’s home.

The bail was set at $750,000 cash, $1.5 million partially secured bond, and $7.5 million bond.

“Over the past three weeks, investigators from the District Attorney’s Office working with Suffolk County Police Department detectives have been working to solve the shooting that occurred outside Congressman Zeldin’s home,” reads an exclusive statement from District Attorney Ray Tierney. “Through that collaborative and diligent police work, we have now recovered one of the firearms used in that dangerous shooting. The investigation is continuing, and we expect that we will have more developments in the future.”

If convicted of the top count, the defendant is facing a minimum sentence of three and one-half years of incarceration. If consecutive sentences are imposed, which the defendant is eligible to receive, the defendant faces an additional sentence of one and one-third to four years of incarceration. 

Green was arraigned in Central Islip this afternoon.
