PSEG Aids in the Beautification of Local Town

Councilwoman Jane Bonner and the Rocky Point Civic Association met recently in Rocky Point to publicly thank PSEG for its assistance with revitalizing a shopping center in Rocky Point.

The town was given $3,387 through a PSEG Long Island Economic Development Beautification Grant. Councilwoman Jane Bonner worked with PSEG Long Island to secure all project funding. The grant allowed for the Rocky Point Civic Association to purchase 13 large planters to line the sidewalks in front of the stores along Broadway in Rocky Point. Each planter has been filled with perennials and other greenery.

“On behalf of the Town of Brookhaven and the Rocky Point Civic Association, I thank PSEG Long Island for this very generous grant,” said Councilwoman Bonner. “It’s important that our communities have the support to fund projects like this one which helps to attract people and revitalize our downtown business districts.”

The PSEG Long Island Economic Development Beautification Grant is available to single business districts on a first come, first serve basis. Potential qualifying materials include hanging planters/plants/flowers utilized within a Business District’s open space, landscape modifications at Business District entrances with signage, planter boxes and plantings along public walkways, garden area/ wood chip mulch, ornamental stone/ pavers/gravel/painted boulders/ decorative elements, benches and seating.

Although the limit to help beautify a district is $3,500, funding is limited. Applicants have until December 31, 2022, to apply. More information is available on their website at www.PSEGLI.com.
